Fourth of July events to light up Las Vegas

Friday, July 2nd, 2010
Caesars Palace at night

Caesars Palace will turn their huge Roman Plaza into an ice palace for the Fourth of July.

If you’re heading to “Camp Las Vegas” (don’t you just love this year’s ad campaign!) for the Fourth of July you’ll find lots of special events planned to entertain you this weekend.  From celebrity-hosted pool parties to fireworks shows, Las Vegas will be flashier and more fun than ever.  Here are just some of the special events going on plus some links to get more info to turn your Las Vegas Fourth of July into a weekend to remember.

Caesars Palace will be the site of a “fire and ice” celebration as the hotel giant transforms its Roman Plaza into an ice palace then lights up the Strip with a fireworks show at 9 p.m. on July 4th.  The huge plaza area just in front of the hotel (behind Serendipity 3) will be transformed into a winter playground for the holiday weekend!  This cold zone will feature snowboarding and skiing on a four-story snow jump plus plenty of other 4th of July activities.

Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino will also host a 9 p.m. fireworks display originating from the hotel’s famed “Mandalay Bay Beach Club.”  A $25 cover charge on July 4th includes admission to the stunning pool area, the fireworks show plus music by Mystic Roots.

Station Casinos celebrates the Fourth of July with five of their casino properties offering free fireworks displays.   Fireworks displays — nine-minute shows at each location — will begin at 8:45 p.m. at Green Valley Ranch, Aliante Station, Red Rock Resort, Fiesta Rancho and Texas Station.

Check out these links for all the Fourth of July 2010 events coming to Las Vegas this weekend:

Las Vegas Fourth of July — Fun Events and Great Hotel Deals

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

Fourth of July fireworks explode in the sky between The Bellagio and Caesars Palace during 2008's display.

There’s still plenty of time and great hotel deals available if you want to spend this Fourth of July in Las Vegas.  P.B. and I usually spend three or four days at one of the resorts on The Strip hanging out at the hotel pool; sampling any new restaurants and ice cream joints (thinking Serendipity 3 at Caesars Palace this year;) and just relaxing over the lazy holiday.

This year we’re going to head for Fremont Street for at least one evening and check out the downtown’s “American Pie 4th of July” celebration which starts Friday, July 3 and goes through Sunday, July 5. The popular Fremont Street Experience has been running a “Summer of ‘69” event featuring the Viva Vision show, “Don McLean’s American Pie,” so we’ll see that plus enjoy one of the weekend concerts. Headliners this year include Janis Joplin’s original band, “Big Brother & The Holding Company,” on Friday with “The Grass Roots” playing on Saturday. The evening of the 4th also promises a brilliant virtual fireworks show on the Viva Vision canopy.  Get more info here — Fremont Street 4th Celebration. (more…)

Looking for something cool to do with Dad this Father’s Day?  Check out a couple of creative Father’s Day restaurant promotions taking place in Las Vegas this month.

We love the Spanish-influenced menu at Cafe Ba Ba Reeba in the Fashion Show mall (not to mention the very yummy sangrias and specialty cocktails!) so we really dig their fun Dad’s Day deal — the perfectly named “Tapas for Papas” breakfast happening this Sunday.  Dad can nosh on goodies like Eggs Benedict with Spanish Ham and Hollandaise or the homemade Waffle with Bananas and Cream from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. plus all Dads dining that day will receive a $25 gift certificate good for a future visit! Halloween Parties in Las Vegas Offer Revelers Spooky, Sexy Fun

Friday, October 24th, 2008
Party all day and night at Harrah's Halloween Las Vegas.

Party all day and night Halloween weekend at Harrah's Las Vegas.

Okay, so you’ve decided to let someone else hand out the Kit Kats while you cash in on one of those great Las Vegas hotel deals I told you about yesterday and you’re heading to Sin City for Halloween.  Now it’s time to check out the coolest parties going at the hottest clubs on and around The Strip all weekend long.  Here’s a list of just some of the most popular events scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

Beginning Thursday, October 30, at NOON, Harrah’s turns their Carnaval Court into a huge outdoor Halloween bash complete with live entertainment, costume contests, Halloween-themed cocktails (no doubt tied into event-sponsor Bacardi,) psychics, tarot card readers and more.  The “Superheroes & Villains” party happens Thursday and Friday from noon – 3 AM each day.

Studio 54 at MGM Grand transforms their 22,000 square-foot club into a Halloween fright-fest for the week and especially for their 42nd Annual Beaux Arts Ball on Thursday and the “Nightmare on 54th Streetgala on Friday.  The Beaux Arts Ball is one of Las Vegas’ biggest fall bashes with lots of special guests, elaborate costumes, exclusive entertainment and more all benefiting the charity Golden Rainbow, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting those living with HIV/AIDS in Southern Nevada.

Taolloween 3 with guest DJ and mistress of ceremonies Tera Patrick takes place Friday night at hotter-than-hot 10,000 square-foot nightclub TAO at The Venetian.  This club, with its 40-foot balcony offering stunning views of the Las Vegas Strip, is one of the premier clubs in Vegas and has one of the longest entrance lines in town so plan accordingly.

New in September to the Las Vegas Strip and brought to you by the creators of TAO is LAVO at The Palazzo.  Their first Halloween party is creating major buzz by bringing in the cast of “Phantom – The Las Vegas Spectacular” from neighboring Venetian to host the club’s Masquerade Ball on Friday.

The Palms — the off-Strip, über-popular resort — is hosting events at its venues Rain, The Playboy Club, Ghostbar and at the rooftop Moon where guests will find J-Roc’s Halloween Bash featuring the popular “Girls Next Door’s” Bridget and Holly.  Costume contests abound – think “Best Sci-Fi” at Moon, “Best Undead” at Ghostbar – with more than $100,000 in cash and prizes to be awarded.

Saturday, The Orleans Arena will be the site of what event producers are calling the largest-ever Las Vegas Nightlife Party – The Fabulous Festival.  Outdoor stages as well as the indoor arena will be home to an all-night extravaganza combining dance, music, performance art and more.  You’ve just got to check out their website for the line-up of musicians, dancers and other performers – FabulousFest.

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

Look for scary costumes at Fort McDowell Casino's Halloween bash.

Looking for a fun Halloween party in the Phoenix area?  How about one where you can win cash for your most creative costume?  Grown-up revelers can head to Fort McDowell Casino on October 30th for their annual “Costume Bash” at the casino’s Lucky 7 Saloon.  Although we haven’t – as yet! – dressed up, P.B. and I have been to this event a couple of times and it really is a lot of fun.  You’ll see lots of elaborate costumes – both scary and funny – and you can dance the night away to live music starting at 9 PM.  Registration for the costume competition starts at 6 with judging from 9 to 11 PM and prize-winners announced at 11:30 PM.  Keep the evening’s celebration going by booking a night at the adjoining Radisson Fort McDowell – it looks like rooms are still available at this time.
