Phil Ruffin “Speaks” to Treasure Island Las Vegas Players

TI - Treasure Island Hotel and Casino

New Owner Phil Ruffin assures players that their points and play will be safe even with the sale of TI.

We received this — “A Message from the New Owner of TI” — and wanted to share it with our readers who may not be signed up to receive emails from MGM Mirage’s “Players Club.”  It answers a number of questions that have been floating around since the announcement of the sale of TI – Treasure Island Hotel and Casino to Phil Ruffin.  It’s good news for those of us who have frequented TI in the past.

“Dear _______,

I am very excited to announce the acquisition of Treasure Island by Ruffin Companies. TI is a property that is in pristine condition, ideally located in the heart of the strip and benefits from a wonderful team of outstanding employees. Ruffin Companies was able to purchase TI while acquiring little or no debt, therefore making TI a financially strong company within the Las Vegas market. I, along with the entire TI team, appreciate your loyalty and we want to assure you that, although there is a new captain at the helm, we are all committed to providing you with the amazing experience that you have come to expect at TI. You’ll still have access to the current point balance available on your MGM MIRAGE Players Club account and will not lose any existing complimentaries or points associated with your account. We will continue to offer comps and POINTPlay based on your play at TI. Your past TI play will continue to qualify you for our exciting events including slot, blackjack & poker tournaments, giveaways, shopping sprees and much more. If you would like to see the offers for which you are currently qualified, please log on to playersclub.com.

And coming soon… the all new Treasure Island Players Club!

The Treasure Island Players Club is TI’s new player loyalty program, where you’ll have the opportunity to receive rewards based on your TI slot and table games play. All past points and comps earned at TI will continue to be retained on your new Treasure Island Players Club card.

Be on the lookout for more information regarding the new Treasure Island Players Club. If you have any questions regarding your account or for assistance in making reservations, please do not hesitate to contact TI Casino Marketing at 800.944.3777.

Sincerely,

Phil Ruffin
Owner”

It will be interesting to see how the new players club shapes up.  Some advice to Mr. Ruffin:  Check out what Anthony Marnell III is doing over at the new M Resort with his iMagine players club.  100,000 new player sign-ups in one month can’t be wrong!

Aug. 1, 2009, and I’m still waiting for my Treasure Island players card. As of last week, they are still part of MGM Players Mvp cards. I am an MVP Diamond of Harrah’s, and receive offers daily, from free food, rooms, cash on arrival, and even free air and cruises. Treasure Island will only offer me discounted rooms, after 3 hours of blackjack play, with average bets of $97+ per hand, plus another 4+ hours of slots. I think they could need a new head of casino hosts. Phil Ruffin is a great guy. He gave away the house at the Frontier, from free rooms, to food, and even shows in the old days. I hope he gets his management team together, because I’m sick of Harrah’s and MGM of Vegas, and I’m looking forward to a one man operation of a 5-star casino.
    Thanks, Marc Sandler

I’m sorry to hear that Marc! I had great hopes for the new TI and their players club. I agree, it is good to have additional competition on the Strip and I’ve always enjoyed staying at TI so I’ll also be interested in seeing what happens next.

    Thanks for reading and commenting.

Received a letter last March from Phil Ruffin regarding his purchase
of the Treasure Island. As a former slot club member from the FRONTIER
CASINO for many years, the letter led me to believe i would still have
access to my points thru RUFFIN PROPERTIES acquiring TI. WRONG!!
Brought the letter to TI and all I got was rudeness and no answers!
so in other words all of the points I had at the FRONTIER are lost!!
Why wouldn’t MR. RUFFIN honor former FRONTIER SLOT CLUB MEMBERS?????
    I AM VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED.
