Las Vegas Travel Tips – What to Pack

Here are 10 tips for “must-have” items for your next trip to Las Vegas. Whenever you travel – either to Las Vegas or to other warm-weather resorts – always remember less is more. Pack light and leave room for lots of travel souvenirs!
- 1. For Vegas nights, ladies, this is your chance to dress up! Four-inch heels, black satin cocktail shorts, plunging necklines and more are all at home at night on the Las Vegas Strip. When you consider that there will be at least one woman running around the casino dressed in her wedding gown, over-dressing becomes a moot point. And, guys, please, make sure you, too, look good for a night out on the town. A great looking pair of jeans and a tailored shirt will get you into almost any club or restaurant not to mention more looks from the gals who are all dressed to impress.
- 2. For daytime, bring comfortable shoes for walking the Strip. Yes, there are cabs and monorails and shuttles but walking will most likely be your main form of transportation during your stay. Even if you take the monorail, most stations are at the back – way, way at the back – of the various casino stops.
- 3. At any time of year, temperatures are glacial inside the casinos so a light sweater or wrap for the ladies and a shirt with sleeves that can be rolled

- A light-weight wrap takes the chill off and at only $10 each, you can pick up a couple of colors at one of the many Strip-area Bijoux Terner stores.
up or down for the guys are necessities. P.B. likes long-sleeved cotton polo shirts for both day and night. I have a soft, cozy turquoise “pashmina” that goes everywhere with me and especially to Las Vegas. It’s like a mini-blanket I can fold up and stash in my purse and you would be amazed at how many other colors go well with turquoise. You can wait and buy a light-weight wrap like those pictured for only $10 each at any of the several Las Vegas Bijoux Terner stores at Bally’s, Caesar’s, Treasure Island, MGM Grand and other casino shopping areas..
- 4. Sunscreen, lip balm and moisturizing lotions for face and body are necessities and especially so for Las Vegas travel. The average humidity in LV never goes above 44% so we are talking some dry air here people. Even if you never have a problem with chapped lips or skin at home, the desert air can do a number on just about anyone. Forget to bring these essential – or just need an excuse to buy something new? I love to visit Sephora at the Planet Hollywood Miracle Mile shops- this location is my very favorite beauty supply store – or go to the Kiehl’s boutique at the Forum Shoppes at Caesars and don’t forget that in LV, you can shop until 11 or even midnight.
- 5. In summer, swimsuits and a small bag for carrying things like bottled water, books, iPods and more to the hotel pool. (That same bag can double as a carry-all for taking your souvenirs back home. )
- 6. In winter, the desert gets colder than you might think so a warm jacket is a must. Night-time temps can dip into the 30′s or below so lightweight gloves will be appreciated if you are out walking in the evenings.
- 7. Sunglasses. With more than 300 days per year of sunshine, you are going to need some shades when you venture outdoors.
- 8. As a coffee-drinker, I always like to start the day with a quick burst of caffeine – even while I am dressing to go get real coffee – so I pack a small tin of General Foods International Coffees® in a favorite flavor and mix that up in the room. Tea bags or powdered drink mixes may do the same for you.
- 9. A small case for keeping your slot cards – players club cards – organized and easy to find is a nice item to throw into your pocket or purse. Also, as I have learned the hard way, club cards can easily get de-magnetized so storing them in a case makes sense. This is the one I use.
- 10. Camera, film/digital cards, batteries. You will find so many fabulous photo ops so keep your camera ready to take that perfect shot!
